I have always been an avid reader and first realised I could spin a yarn myself when my sixth grade teacher read a humorous story I had written to the class. I can still recall the look on her face and the inflection in her voice as she used her considerable narration skills to enhance the story and make it sound entertaining. Even to me! It wasn't until much later, two decades in fact, that I decided to pick up a pen, draft a story, type it out and send it off. It never made it into print but it was a beginning. If there is an end, it is still a long way off.
